I care about this world so much

Sustainability has become a buzzword. While rooted in very real aspirations, many brands have latched onto this word as a value prop, without the evidence to back it up. To be a sustainable business is to be dedicated to learning and prioritizing practices that better our world (and the people we share it with).

For me, that includes thoughtful production, packaging, and materiality of all my merch and wares. Below are some quick facts to give you a better sense of how my products are made:

  • Apparel

Apparel garments are made from 100% cotton. They are screenprinted right here in Phoenix by a fellow small business (and sometimes by yours truly). Some items are printed using water-based ink, while others use traditional plastisol ink.

  • Blankets

Knit blankets are produced by a 60+ year-old family-owned textile mill in NY, and are made using 50% regenerated post-consumer cotton with 50% regenerated post-consumer polyester.

  • Art Prints

Art prints are produced on acid-free, pH-neutral, 100% cotton paper using archival pigment inks, and are printed in a solar-powered facility in Minnesota. Prints are packaged with a recycled cardstock backer board inside a commercially compostable clear sleeve.

  • Greeting Cards

Greeting cards are printed in the US on 100% recycled PCW paper, and packaged in a commercially compostable clear sleeve (when available). Envelopes are made from FSC-certified paper.

  • Keychains + Magnets

Keychains and magnets are made in the UK from 100% recycled acrylic (R-MMA) destined for landfill or incineration. This acrylic is free from HFC (Hydrofluorocarbon) and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). When requested by retailers, I package these with a 100% recycled cardstock card inside a commercially compostable clear sleeve.

  • Stickers

Stickers are made from vinyl, there's no getting around that (at least for the level of durability and quality that lasts). All of my small stickers are made in Los Angeles, CA by a 20+ year-old small business that has historically donated to progressive causes including Planned Parenthood, NAMI, and the ACLU. Bumper stickers are produced by a women-owned small business in Portland, OR who prioritizes art/artists and also engages in progressive causes.

  • Packaging

When packaging products, specifically for shipping, I prioritize recycled, recyclable, and plastic free materials. All boxes are either re-used or made from recyclable materials (including bamboo and recycled cardboard, using water-based and algae-based inks). Cardboard boxes are ordered from a family-owned business in CA. I use water-activated, plastic-free packing tape, compostable packing peanuts, and grocery store mailers as filler.
